We often receive questions about the health of poppers. But no, poppers are no more healthy than smoking or alcohol. It is therefore crucial to be aware of the health risks involved in handling and consuming poppers. Poppers are liquid and are sniffed. The vapors are inhaled through the nose. Under no circumstances should poppers be consumed, as this is life-threatening. We only offer approved and safe variants in our poppers store.
To sniff poppers, hold the bottle close to your nose and inhale deeply. As with smoking and alcohol, moderation is crucial for health. Two inhalations per nostril are sufficient. This can be repeated in one evening.
Although it is not healthy, the body can usually tolerate poppers 1 to 3 times a month. But what are the risks? The nitrites contained are irritating to the skin, therefore skin contact should be avoided. Particular care must be taken when sniffing to ensure that no poppers reach the nose. Our sniffers (bottle tops) offer additional safety.
Poppers can also cause irreversible eye damage. Care must therefore be taken to ensure that they do not get into the eyes.
The absorption of poppers through the lungs can lower blood pressure and even lead to unconsciousness if consumed in excess.
Some poppers (isopropyl nitrite, isobutyl nitrite) are carcinogenic, so we do not carry them. Short-term headaches due to a lack of oxygen in the bloodstream are possible. Long-term consumption can damage the lungs and increase the risk of heart, liver, kidney and immune system diseases.
Another indirect health risk is that poppers can impair judgment in the short term, which can lead to neglecting safety measures such as using condoms during sex, increasing the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
